I've also run MalwareBytes and Symantec on the drive. It shows up in the "safely remove hardware" menu, and even states the drive letter it had when it was working (G). The user had good skydrive backups to restore from so that wasn't a big deal. MalwareBytes came up with about 6 files, but cleaning them off didn't make a difference, and subsequent scans come up clean.
