Left the computer for 5 mins until it was responsive again, then rebooted. Restarting Avast in Task Manager and restarting my laptop fixed this. Thanks for the help! I will update this when I encounter more problems. weblink

I think it has to do something with having the app install location on system drive. If disabling add-ins did not resolve your issue, continue on to the next item on the list. I am very sad to see everyday how many more people are still affected, and for how many people is it impossible to roll back to the previous build.

What finally fixed it (albeit not a permanent fix) was to flip my SATA mode from AHCI to IDE in the BIOS.
