I've emailed HP and Microsoft on this problem and their expedient reply is "go get it fixed by an authorized repair facility". Most times you have no idea all the things it's trying to do & I'm not certian it does either. I didn't receive any error message, as it's a lock up and I definitely wont be reinstalling Windows just yet. I have not noted any particular program or site that is running, it seems just random. Get rid of it before you render your computer inoperable. double click rstrui.exe file to launch system restore. Computer Freezes Randomly Windows Xp

after i changed up some ram and applied some thermal gel to the processor, chipset and GPU, i began to notice some lock-ups. The cooling systems clog up with dust, hair, etc. Any help and can give me?

When I turn it off and on again, it always freezes again during startup, so I have to go into Safe Mode and shut it down from there, after which it if my computer is too old, just consider getting a new one -- or a new used one.
